'Don Juan' Sculpture Vase
Kosta Boda

Huge (47cm tall) sculptural vessel, Model 49952, from Ulrica Hydman-Vallien's 1999 'Don Juan' series. It features a bulbous base, a serpentine neck - echoing Hydman-Vallien's recurring motif of snake-like imagery in her designs - and is covered entirely in a 'draped' amethyst decoration.

'Opaline' Vase
Kastrup Glas

Minimalist vase from Jacob E. Bang's sought-after 'Opaline' series, designed for Kastrup Glas in 1960. The elegant austerity of 'Opaline' comes from its simple shape, monotone palette, and lack of superfluous decoration, making it an ageless modern classic.

We carry a broad spectrum of glass in our gallery, from practical domestic glass and drinkware through to decorative art and studio glass. Much, if not most, of our glass was created by important artists, architects and designers working for renowned factories, as well as several respected glass artists creating work for their own studios.

The glass collection is divided into four main sections, categorised by the geography of its production. These categories can be found to the left of this page, and contain the following:

Britain This category is dominated by Whitefriars glass, starting with elegant 1930s designs by Barnaby and Marriot Powell and William Wilson through to bright and sculptural 1950s - 1970s glass designed by Geoffrey Baxter. We also carry elegant designs by Clyne Farquharson for Stourbridge glassworks John Walsh Walsh and fine studio glass by British glass artist, Pauline Solven.

Denmark In our gallery you will find one of the widest arrays of Danish factory glass outside of Denmark with both iconic and rare designs from the country's most important designers working for its most esteemed factories, including Jacob and Michael Bang, Per Lütken and C&C Holmgren for Holmegaard and Kastrup.

Finland, Sweden & Norway Several names from the pinnacle of Scandinavian glass design can be found in this category, with classic tableware designs from Timo Sarpaneva, Tapio Wirkkala and Jorma Vennola for Iittala and Göran Wärff for Kosta and Pukeberg, and colourful decorative glass made by, amongst others, Riihimäen Lasi OY, Hadeland, FM Ronneby and Elme Glasbruk.

Europe & Czechoslovakia A relatively new category, ever-increasing in size with famous and long-standing designs from European glasshouses such as WMF, Val St. Lambert and Salviati.
